ABOUT ME!!

My name is Katarina Kulgeyko and I’m 12 years old. I started skating at the age of 4 at San Diego Ice Arena. One of my first coaches has been Natasha Bobrina, who has coached me for almost six years! During that time, I also got to skate with Yuri Ovchinnikov and Eric Millot.

Here are some of the major events that have happened.

In 2006 I placed second at the 2007 Southwest Regionals in the Juvenile level and made it to the 2007 U.S. Junior National Championships in Cleveland , Ohio .

The following year, I started skating with Faye Kitariev. I placed first place at the 2008 Southwest Pacific Regional Championships and again, made it to the 2008 U.S Junior Championships. This time they were in Salt Lake City , Utah . There at the competition I placed seventh in the final round.

To help me in my skating I also dance (jazz) and swim. I train everyday and sometimes twice a day! Everything I do off the ice combines to make me a better skater.

I also equally put my efforts into my school work. Some of my favorite subjects are math and social studies, and I also love to read in my free time.

Throughout all this time, I must admit that skating has been helping pushing me to my limits and beyond not only in sport, but in other areas such as school, art, and music. It also taught me many times not to give up on things easily, just like in sport. I find it very helpful when I am working on solving a math problem and the solution doesn’t come to me right away to think about the ice, my skating routine and what I would do there, on the field.

I am incredibly grateful to my parents who are making my dreams a reality and have always been supportive. I am lucky to have such experienced coaches that let me learned a great deal from them. I am thankful to my older brother, Jack, who is currently serving our country. He is someone I always look up to and always will.

Also, I want to thank everyone who took interest in my life and inspire me to be more competitive on ice and a better person in life.

I look forward to having as much achievements as I had in the past, as I will have in the future.
